Our final piece

We really like our final piece!! we feel the music has worked well with the piece and like the way the footage flashes between the girl on the phone walking through town and the pictures. The way it speeds up half way through is also very effective!!We could have had more varied shots to help keep the viewers attention.

Group Photo!

Images

We have been looking for images to use for our board, we will use these images in our sequence. Pictures we are looking for are picture of young girls which our stalker will follow, mug shots, famous people and also newspaper clippings.
We are going to go for a typical blonde young girls. We will also go out and take pictures of girls that we know to use also.

E.g
A typical blonde girl, just her face.

Todays Lesson<3

In todays lesson we are going to develop our soundtrack even further to create a more eery feel to the overall effect of our thriller. We now know when we are going to begin filming our thriller and are currently deciding on the locations we want to film at.
So Far we have chosen
-Town Center(market square)
-Car Park(Lion Yard)
-Alleyway By the backs of Queens/St Johns Colleges

We have decided on these 3 locations so far because we need a busy bustly area for the opening sequences and the car park for the lift scene. The alleyway will add drama and tension to the opening for when the stalker is following his victim, we need to to make a big impact on the audience.

Love from the girls=)

Animatic

After watching the animatic, we think we did a pretty good job seeing as we didn't have knowledge on how to do it. When we were putting our shots together and putting them in order, we came up with some new ideas which we have included. We weren't too sure on an ending but found a suitable one with the lift.
We also realised some problems with location, where to shoot from to get the shot that we wanted. For example, town centre and how we are going to find somewhere high enough to shoot looking down. We have still yet found somewhere but hopefully this will become easier when we get onto location.
We are not sure whether or not the music is effective and goes well enough with the sequence. We will have to work on it for our real sequence, where the pace and style might change, therefore the music having to.

Creating our soundtrack =)

We are creating our soundtrack to accompany our sequence. We are using garage band, and also we have uploaded some sample tracks so that we can intergrate them into our piece or use as inspiration.
We would like the music to give an atmosperic ambience to our piece and therefore creating a scary essence to the action on the screen.
We will add some classical piano and possibly some violins because we feel that classical instruments add to the effect of our thriller.

The Storyboard

We drew pictures of our thriller opening sequnce, we then took photos of each frame and uploaded them onto the computer where we are using final cut express to animate them and put them in an order/sequence where we can see how long each frame will be and also the shots that we will use when we go filming. For example we are using close up shots and panning shots in our piece.
We think that this is going well and is very helpful towards our planning of the shoot. We are making good progress and will hopefully be filming in the coming weeks.

Our Idea

Our final idea is to have a young girl who is in the middle of town, she is then followed by a man who is a killer. She is followed down an alleyway and is grabbed. running along side this chase scene. We are takin the 'scrapbook' idea from 'Se7en' and 'Red Dragon' we will include photos of the victims and also newspaper clippings. We will have the camera zoom into these props and also scan across them similar to 'Red Dragon'these way the audience gets an idea of the rest of the movie and also gets and insight to the killers background and victims. We will end the sequence with the girl running into a lift so the audience thinks that she has got away but in the last second ,while the lift doors are closing, we will just see the killers hand in the doors stopping the lift. Then we will blackout and then the name of the film will pop up and dissolve into the film. Both the chase scene and the scrapbook scenes will run along side each other, switching from one to another. This will create tension in the chase scenes and build up the suspense.

se7en

The idea of the 'scrapbook' we are going to try and reinact this idea. Also the close ups used is also an interesting idea. In this sequence you dont see the person making the scrapbook and we might use this mystery element in our opening sequence. Also the double vision shots are also quite an interesting idea and might be used in our thriller. The music is quite scary but up beat at the same time this is intriguing and we might also use this type/style of music.

"Red Dragon"
The idea of newspaper clippings were going to use in our titles. This tells the audience about the general story and also the killer and his past killings. We thought that a scrap book would take too much time so were going to do a board full off photos and newspaper clippings. We will also do a scene at the start or flashes of it during the shots of the board, the scene will consist of a young girl being followed down an alley or somewhere in town. We think this is a good opening because it gives us an insight into the murder/stalker without giving too much away.

The board of pictures is going to be one of the main focuses as it will be a re occurring image which will focus the audience.

Initial Ideas

From looking at other videos we know that we want various effects and things that neeed to be included, these are:
simple ideas
shocking aspects
scaryness
spooky music- slow and atmosperic
cliff hanger
clear titles
moving camera shots
ghostly effects
snappy shots, alley ways
flashes between each shot

Initially we have a 'stalker' idea, this would be a man who has a obsession, this could be something like blonde hair on woman, or a particular feature. We liked the idea of having flash backs and snappy shots, therefore we would have various mugshots of his victims all on one wall which be a re ocurring image throughout the scene.
There would be one individual picture or woman which would keep coming up, this being one of his main stalkers. the stalker could be sat at a computer and this picture keep flashing up. so this was not all too similar, other shots would be in crowded areas, spotting the victims and taking actions when he sees it.

Review of SURFACE=)

Narrative/Structure
-Slow atmospheric
-Blood-parallel editing/break scene
-Goes from slow atmospheric photograph to dreamy/sinister shot. Any image of being in water & not being able to get up again creates un-nervy feelings.
